ECDL training module 2 - Using computers and managing files

ECDL module 2 introduces the personal computer (PC) how it works and how to use Microsoft® Windows to perform basic computer operations.

At the end of module 2 a candidate is expected to understand:

  • The basic functions of a personal computer PC.
  • Computer operating systems.
  • How to work within the desktop environment.
  • How to manage and organise files, directories and folders.
  • How to move, copy delete and rename files directories and folders.
  • An understanding of windows and desktop icons.
  • How to search for files.
  • How to perform simple editing.
  • How to manage the printer and print documents. 

The course covers:

  • Getting started with PC's.
  • The computer desktop.
  • Windows.
  • Organising files.
  • Searching for files.
  • Editing.
  • Printing and Print Management.

Course duration 1 day or 5 sessions of 1.5hrs.

We are able to offer this course during normal working hours or outside normal working hours. 

Course prerequisites:

The course does not require the delegate to have any previous knowledge of personal computers.
