Access Training - Introduction to designing relational databases

Access training for those who wish to learn how to design relational databases using Microsoft® Access. The course uses a combination of tuition and a practical exercise to illustrate how to design a simple relational database with an intuitive user interface. The course focuses on good database design principles as well as how to use Access. 

At the end of the course the user will have sufficient knowledge to develop well designed "one to many" relational databases using Microsoft® Access. Throughout the tuition, the benefits of relational database design are highlighted with practical examples.

  • Basic relational database principals
  • Creating a database from first principals
  • Objects and their properties
  • Designing tables
  • Designing forms with two tier nested subforms
  • Working with data, filtering and sorting
  • Building expressions
  • Designing basic queries
  • Designing reports

Course duration 2 days.

Course prerequisites. The course assumes the participant will have a basic understanding of personal computers and Microsoft ®  Windows. No previous knowledge of relational database applications or Microsoft ®  Access is required.
